Imagery Redefined
Taking agronomic imagery to the next level
If you’re looking to amp up your imagery and fertility management program, then Ninja Ag can help.
Ninja Ag’s system takes normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) readings from unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) or aerial devices and corrects the image using readings collected with Trimble’s GreenSeeker handheld crop sensor – giving you accurate data to product fertility recommendations and other valuable data maps.
Our system requires the use of Trimble’s GreenSeeker. Trimble’s GreenSeeker handheld crop sensor is an affordable, easy-to-use measurement device that can be used to assess the heath—or vigor—of a crop to make better nutrient management decisions. We purchase GreenSeeker handhelds from Trimble and can supply users with one when creating a Ninja Ag account.
Until now, factors such as time of day, cloud cover and varied near infrared (NIR) bans negatively impacted the quality of NDVI imagery data, making fertility recommendations not accurate or precise. Ninja Ag was formed to fill a gap in providing applicable fertility recommendations from NDVI captured by UAS and aerial imagery. There’s no algorithmic black box. Recommendations derive from algorithms developed by Oklahoma State University (OSU) in the late 1990s that produced proven results in the early 2000s. With Ninja Ag’s system, factors that impact imagery values become irrelevant – making data more precise and reliable.
Our system provides fertility recommendations for wheat, canola, corn, sorghum and cotton. Instead of forcing specific fertility models on a field, Ninja Ag uses a unique approach that focuses on field-specific insights to determine what is needed. We let the field do the talking!
NDVI readings from UAS or aerial devices collects real-time data from a nutrient-rich strip; a field reverence point. Imagery is then uploaded to Ninja Ag’s system to get a corrected NDVI image that can be used for nutrient recommendations. Data can be collected anytime, giving users the benefit of flexibility and real-time yield prediction and return on investment information.
